Pros

There is potential for the company. Buildertrend definitely has potential, and there are many talented people working here. However, now that growth has slowed, it seems that the business leaders are struggling to navigate the challenges. However, I do have to give credit to the CEO, Dan, for building the potential that keeps us hanging on. He’s an incredibly gifted speaker, and his ability to influence people is undeniable. Despite a fair amount of negative complaints on glassdoor, it’s surprising that so many employees stay, likely because of the hope that things will improve. Every time Dan speaks, we’re all captivated, holding onto the belief that a better future is just around the corner. One thing the leadership tends to overlook is that while there’s always a push for the customer’s success, it’s the employees who make that possible. Without the employees, there are no profits. It feels like that key fact is often forgotten. I’ve come across an earlier review that made ridiculous statements. They were so far-fetched I can only assume they were joking. Claims like “Dan is always here, he never takes a day off” and “Dan never plays favorites” Honestly, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The real issue, though, is the culture around feedback. There’s a reason people don’t openly criticize Dan – there are definite consequences. He surrounds himself with “yes” men, and dissenting voices aren’t welcomed. Trying to give constructive feedback to his right-hand man, Josh(CRO), is even more of a risk. He’s the loudest voice in the room and often the only one that gets heard. If Josh isn’t happy with you, it won’t be long before you find yourself being quietly pushed out. Proceed with caution if you decide to be brave and speak up – it could cost you.

Cons

Struggling to mature as an organization, trying to be a serious player in the tech space but want to keep the kindergarten antics. No equity as is typical of other tech companies. (it’s there but only reserved for a select few) If you aren’t seen in the office, you aren’t working. Real remote work or hybrid doesn’t exist. There is nothing that shows inept or lazy leaders more than a company that doesn’t trust their employees and needs to see them to prove they are working. If you don’t look a certain way, you will be labeled irrelevant and a poor performer. That means that you need to be either a white, male, that attended a Millard school or are friends with one.

Pros

This department is great. Everyone I work with is knowledgeable and self-sufficient. We are trusted to get our work done and there is a lot of flexibility. Pay is decent. I have had some bad jobs in accounting/finance and this is probably my favorite job I have had.

Cons

Other departments seem to have their own issues. We are siloed from those issues so I can't speak to them.

Pros

None, a bunch of frat bros who put you down any chance they get.

Cons

I worked here for over two years, and it was a frustrating and, at times, uncomfortable professional experience. I often felt that my contributions were overlooked, and it was difficult to feel fully respected or included in conversations and decision-making. The workplace culture was one of the biggest challenges. I regularly observed gossip and unprofessional communication, and advancement did not appear to follow a clear, performance-based structure. From what I experienced, promotions seemed more closely tied to internal relationships than to measurable results, which made growth feel uncertain and inconsistent. There were also moments that I found inappropriate in a professional setting. I personally overheard a manager make a comment about wanting someone on a team based on appearance, which raised concerns for me about workplace standards. In addition, repeated day-to-day interactions sometimes felt dismissive or discouraging, and over time that created a work environment that was difficult to feel comfortable in. Leadership often felt disconnected from the day-to-day employee experience, and expectations around performance and quotas were, in my experience, difficult to meet in a sustainable way. This added pressure without a clear sense of support or alignment. This reflects my personal experience, but I would strongly encourage anyone considering a role here to ask detailed questions about team culture, communication style, and growth opportunities to determine if it aligns with what they’re looking for.
