Pros

Cool office Good work/life balance Low stress

Cons

Outdated technology - After a few years here, you're pigeonholed to working on legacy systems in old tech stacks Bro culture and favoritism. Brown nosing and sucking up is the key to moving up here. Except the company believes in a flat org, so zero room to move up. Pay is ridiculous. The downside to such a lax work environment is that it is used as justification to keep pay low. This company is also full of people who have never been anywhere else. This creates an echo-chamber in terms of technology and solutions and they genuinely feel they're doing it "the best way". If they branched out a little bit, they'd realized they are in the stone-age compared to the rest of the world. The product sucks. You won't be proud of it. It's bloated crap and customer turnover is high because of it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As always, we appreciate your candid input! It’s always helpful to hear all sides of the perspective. While we know that Buildertrend is not for every individual, we are striving to maintain an incredible culture that will support us in continued success. We do believe life is better here and although the total compensation package is very competitive to the market, we know that our employees also value the balance they can have in their lives while at Buildertrend. Buildertrend’s entire value proposition is encouraging all individuals to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle, while working at a really successful organization. Not many organizations as successful as we are can support that. Our product is vast, but that allows our 15,000+ customers to use our product to change the way they build and operate. Our Development shop prides itself on our ability to release new features to our customers and upgrade our tech stack. With new projects like our migration to React, Typescript, GCP and WebAPI, as well as cross functional development opportunities to learn native iOS and Android frameworks, our employees are growing and developing in meaningful ways. We value input from each current employee, regardless of tenure or background, and will continue to value input from the 100+ Developers we are hiring this year alone. We are proud of the community we’ve built here and look forward to doubling again in 2019!

Pros

This department is great. Everyone I work with is knowledgeable and self-sufficient. We are trusted to get our work done and there is a lot of flexibility. Pay is decent. I have had some bad jobs in accounting/finance and this is probably my favorite job I have had.

Cons

Other departments seem to have their own issues. We are siloed from those issues so I can't speak to them.

Pros

None, a bunch of frat bros who put you down any chance they get.

Cons

I worked here for over two years, and it was a frustrating and, at times, uncomfortable professional experience. I often felt that my contributions were overlooked, and it was difficult to feel fully respected or included in conversations and decision-making. The workplace culture was one of the biggest challenges. I regularly observed gossip and unprofessional communication, and advancement did not appear to follow a clear, performance-based structure. From what I experienced, promotions seemed more closely tied to internal relationships than to measurable results, which made growth feel uncertain and inconsistent. There were also moments that I found inappropriate in a professional setting. I personally overheard a manager make a comment about wanting someone on a team based on appearance, which raised concerns for me about workplace standards. In addition, repeated day-to-day interactions sometimes felt dismissive or discouraging, and over time that created a work environment that was difficult to feel comfortable in. Leadership often felt disconnected from the day-to-day employee experience, and expectations around performance and quotas were, in my experience, difficult to meet in a sustainable way. This added pressure without a clear sense of support or alignment. This reflects my personal experience, but I would strongly encourage anyone considering a role here to ask detailed questions about team culture, communication style, and growth opportunities to determine if it aligns with what they’re looking for.
