Pros
Builder Funnel has a lot of potential for growth, and I enjoyed having the opportunity to introduce new ideas, especially in the web development department. The company was expanding with new pods being added, and I worked with some talented and hardworking people. The challenges that came with this growth were exciting, and I was able to contribute by improving processes, particularly in client onboarding and transitioning to the delivery team.
Cons
I left a company and job that I loved because I was promised better work-life balance at Builder Funnel, but that turned out to be completely untrue. Many days required 10+ hours of work, and the stress level was high. Some of my team members even talked about looking for a way out. Communication was a major issue—no one mentioned any performance problems until I was suddenly terminated without warning. I was blindsided and felt like I was "dooped and then dumped." The only feedback I received beforehand was a Slack message pointing out that I had misspelled the president's name by leaving out one of the Ls in Russell. Hidden fees in the sales process, particularly related to HubSpot migration, led to unhappy clients. I brought this up multiple times, but it remained unresolved, and I ended up taking the blame. At a trade show retreat, the president, Danielle Russell, openly complained about subordinates asking for raises and vented about how much they complained during their 1-on-1s. It was insane to actually hear her say these things—it was so unprofessional. Danielle frequently made mistakes and would remind everyone that project management was new for her and that she was reading a book on it. This was wild to see, given my extensive experience and education in project management. I even asked her multiple times to let me take over, but she would brush it off. As a result, the website backlog kept growing,
