Warned it would happen to me too... - ER Trauma Registered Nurse RN Bronson Methodist Hospital Employee Review

Pros

Many educational opportunities, promoted to charge nurse in 18 months time (I came as an experienced ER RN) but when I changed my mind and no longer want to, they still put me in that position, as an overall organization, they did treat their nurses well. I miss the old Bronson.

Cons

I learned quickly it was full of cliques in the ER. Supervisors and charge nurses were not trauma experienced and many days I was the only trauma trained nurse having to run 2-3 traumas at a time. Charge nurses were too busy with their friends to help. I was not in the "manager friend or popular clique" and worked hard and loved my job. All my friends were fired and I was warned that they too would find something wrong, but they couldn't. I finally left for better opportunities and money elsewhere in the USA. I miss the trauma, patients, and some of the staff, but like I still see in the reviews, I will never miss the way they treat their employees in the ER. I still see it in Reviews and it has been years since I stepped foot in that hospital. It is a cycle there and it is true, most nurses do not make it 6 months in that ER, they are like wild animals eating their young which is sad.

Pros

Lifestyle spending account, PTO accrual rate is average. Coworkers are mostly good.

Cons

Extremely short staffed to the point of unsafe staffing ratios, poor pay with little-to-no raises, heavy emphasis on punishment culture.
