Cons

I was warned about taking a position with Broe and should have listened. Pat Broe is very abusive and he makes It is a very hostile work environment. He is a very disrespectful, unethical person. He just fires people when he doesn't get his way. Just because he has money doesn't make him God. Who is he going to fire in HELL when he can't get water!?!

Pros

Nice properties and hard working on site teams

Cons

I accepted a position with Broe because of the overwhelmingly positive things I had heard from long-term employees about the company culture, leadership, and opportunities for growth. When I first joined the company, those things genuinely seemed true. The previous regional manager was approachable, supportive, and invested in employee development. Feedback was constructive, goals were discussed openly, and employees were made to feel appreciated for the work they contributed. Unfortunately, over the last year, with the transition in upper leadership and the introduction of a new vice president and regional manager, the environment has changed dramatically.. and not for the better. Nearly every positive aspect that once made this company stand out has disappeared. The culture has shifted into one where employees are made to feel disposable, undervalued, and constantly fearful about job security. There is little to no support from leadership, no meaningful coaching, and absolutely no sense of appreciation for the people who keep these properties running day after day. Employee appreciation events and team recognition efforts that once helped morale have completely disappeared. Anything that made employees feel valued seems to have been removed entirely. What is most concerning is the way employees are treated behind the scenes. I have personally witnessed incredibly hardworking and dedicated individuals lose their jobs abruptly, often without warning, coaching, or even honest conversations beforehand. Instead of being developed and supported, employees are left feeling intimidated and easily replaceable. The leadership style has become extremely controlling and, at times, openly personal. If you are not viewed as fitting a very specific mold, it quickly becomes clear that you are no longer favored. Employees should never feel like their job stability depends on personal preferences or superficial factors rather than the quality of their work and professionalism. It is genuinely disheartening to see how toxic the work environment has become. I have worked for much larger multifamily companies where employees were treated with far more respect, professionalism, and appreciation than what I have experienced here. During the interview process, the company presents itself as a place where employees are valued and supported like family, but the reality has been the complete opposite. At this point, there is very little opportunity for meaningful growth or development within the company. Employees are expected to comply without question, often under pressure or fear, rather than being empowered to succeed. I never expected to feel this disappointed by a company I initially had such high hopes for, and I am actively looking forward to the day I can leave this environment behind.
