Pros

Great resume building job that lets you get your foot in the door within the solar industry. Fellow employees are good people. It is a lead generation job with "room for advancement" I see it as keep your #'s up and gain as much knowledge as you can while there to better your chances at advancement in the industry . Payment are always on time and pay is OK, nothing good nothing bad. gas reimbursements, Bonuses, and Commissions.

Cons

The company portrays itself as the largest solar education company in retail. You don't get great training(1-2 days of regular Brightcurrent work without commission on leads qualified) the "Retail" stores the company places employees in are not always nice and for the most part don't produce leads adding to the frustration of keeping your ratio (QL/HR ratio) decent. Turnover rate since i have been with the company is terrible. Most new hires have been let go due to #'s being bad or quit. You are expected to work off clock a lot (phone calls, inputting leads, calling, emailing, and texting people. Phone meetings with management, Driving.) Also, It seems not much research is going into the company's new campaigns (Other than CA.) You are expected to produce with little information, training, and merchandise/ literature.

Pros

Working with BrightCurrent has been a fantastic intro to the renewable energy industry. Hours are flexible, co-workers are awesome, and the managers are engaged and understanding. Everyone is considered for promotion after three months, with a pay bump and increased responsibilities; they have been committed to employee development from the get-go, but understand that BrightCurrent will not be your life forever. A young company, they are growing extremely fast and offer many opportunities for advancement. A typical workday consists of conversing with passerbys at events and hardware stores about solar systems to save them money. Everyone wins, and I'm proud to represent the high quality products and services they offer. The entire team is passionate about building a decentralized clean energy system, and they ask you for feedback and guidance in the direction the company should embark on.

Cons

80% of people in the field ignore you off the bat, which can be hard to get used to, though working for BrightCurrent has made me utterly unafraid of talking to perfect strangers. Remaining enthused every weekend morning is sometimes difficult when it's a slow rainy day (and your commission drops accordingly). Also, commute times can be cripplingly rough; not sure what my net carbon footprint is from driving an hour each way to sell people on solar quotes.
