As a manager you have little to no hourly duties. You really are responsible for managing hourly employees.

The owner is a little paranoid. You'll be asked to take on a project and then it will be completely forgotten about. If you do have a chance to show your results, the owner will be suspicious that positive results are "rigged". You get used to it, but it's a little weird.
