Run!!! This Company Is One Big Scam! - Marketing Brave Thinking Institute Employee Review

Pros

There are no pros or positives here.

Cons

There are far too many to list, but first of all please do not be fooled by the 5 star reviews they have. Most of the 5 star reviews are written by management (the family) to hide all of the real negative reviews. Seriously run as fast as you can from them. Life Mastery Institute, or whatever they're calling themselves now, is one big scam. They lure you in with the promise of an extremely generous salary (I was offered 6 figures) and the promise of growth bonuses. What they don't tell you is that they strongly encourage (basically force) you to take various paid "executive leadership" courses. One of these courses was over $12,000 for one year. When I explained to management that I was uncomfortable with this, they told me that all of their most successful employees took them and if I wasn't comfortable I wouldn't be a good fit for their "culture". Guess I'm not a good fit because I don't think it's ethical or right to do this. Seems that others feel the same way because with the exception of the family members turnover here is extremely high.

We respect everyone's right to form and voice their opinion as we do this feedback posted here. I do want to respond by going through the facts as I am not sure where some of the statements came from? First, I am the Director of Operations and Human Resources and can attest that only 2 of the reviews are from family members - all the rest of the reviews are from non-family members. I also want to make it clear that we do not ask anyone to "pay" to take any courses - EVER. These are provided free of charge. The company provides a weekly lesson in personal development principles and then we have a mastermind weekly where we share gold nuggets from the lesson as a team-building exercise. No one is "forced" to join these. Everyone on my team and others have commented on how grateful they are that our Company invests 2 hours a week in paid time for our own personal development which is unique as most people who work for other companies have to pay for personal development courses and do this in their off hours outside of work. It is true that one of our Core Values is Integrity. We live what we teach and deliver what we promise. Therefore if someone is not interested in personal development it will be challenging to stay in alignment with the Company's mission - and to work with our Marketing team. Believing in the product is an important aspect to be able to Market successfully. In terms of our company's turnover rate it is well below the national average. I personally have worked for the Institute for seven years and I love what I do and the difference we are making in the world.

Pros

Peers and management deeply care about individuals and the impact you want to make on the world. I received nothing but love and encouragement throughout the entirety of my time serving at BTI. I was always able to take off when needed for personal things (family, trips, mental health, etc) and my compensation was great! The culture requires a growth mindset with an open heart and it’s wonderful if that’s the right fit for you. I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for working here and leaving (for reasons not relevant to this review) was a difficult decision due to how amazing my experience was.

Cons

Lots of softwares / tech stack could be more consolidated, (people who aren’t tech savvy could struggle a bit) BUT the admin team are extremely responsive and helpful.

Pros

Some coworkers are friendly, and that helps make the day a bit easier.

Cons

The experience is horrible overall. No professionalism at this company. They seem progressive by hiring a lot of young people, but the work environment is very toxic. Time off is very limited, and benefits are poor, it's hard to rest or plan time away. Meetings include unnecessary and uncomfortable activities. Managers and upper management show favoritism, especially toward certain people, which creates unfair treatment. The way they make decisions on employee matters is so biased. Many processes feel outdated, and there is little effort to improve them. Your manager will only reach out when you're under-performing. Employees do not want to speak up about anything not working well as management will not take any constructive feedback well. Also, if you do not fit in, be ready to get fired. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.
