Pros

I worked at Brand Finance many years ago and have had time to really digest my experience. Here's are some honest pros for working here: - I had incredible opportunities to work with the biggest brands and with a team of really smart people. - My (almost) 2 years of working there was great for my CV and helped advance my career. - Still to this day, I apply the lessons I learnt at Brand Finance - management are detail oriented and extremely meticulous. They will tell you directly what isn't working and if you can take it in, your output of work will come out very thought out and this dramatically improved my skill set. - I grew as a person and as an employee - I had the time and space to learn how to improve my work and to communicate with various types of stakeholders. - The events hosted by Brand Finance are something else... they are able to gather the best people in the game. They would host monthly events and talks from very inspiring people. It was and still is an honour to have been in the same room and learn from the calibre of people Brand Finance brought in. - The work itself is very educational. I learnt what a brand really means using case studies across a huge range of industries. - Brand Finance are articulating something that's intangible - this requires some serious brain work and they do it well. They know what they're talking about and you can only admire and learn from their knowledge. - It's a family business and that meant the team at times felt like a family, which I know is something special for a lot of people.

Cons

Now to get to the cons... in summary, I experienced a lot of pain and struggle working here (as dramatic as that may sound). - It was more or less my first 'real' job. If you're a graduate, you need specific guidance and training from ground zero. Simply put, I never got that. - I had to learn to find my way through criticism and this method can really defeat one's esteem and frankly, it did at times. I had many cries in the toilets and know others did too. - They have a perfectionist mind set, which isn't always productive. I've since worked at companies that weren't so meticulous and because I was allowed to make mistakes, my growth and ability to be more creative improved. - The perfectionism also sadly means they can overlook work you're doing. Beyond salary and 'hygiene' factors for working, feeling appreciated is something every human deserves and I felt management fell short on that during my time there . It's a shame because the work that's being produced is something to be proud of. Ultimately. I would say working here suits a specific type of person - some one who can break down criticism and extract the guidance that's being giving. It's someone who has the self worth and value to know their work is good, even when they're not getting the recognition. It also requires someone to actively seek out the opportunities that is very much there. As other reviews have pointed out - it can be what you make it.
