Pros

It's a regular paying job.

Cons

Brady Corp, based in Milwaukee, WI, and its Workplace Safety division (WPS) in Buffalo, NY, and Chicago, IL is one of the worst places I’ve ever worked. Management hires employees at low salaries compared to other companies for similar positions and places increasingly high demands on employees. The company/division adjusts its policies to make it harder for employees to earn their well-deserved bonuses; they promise professional development but don’t deliver; and management rewards their favorites, who pass their work onto subordinates while the favorites get recognition for the subordinates’ work. They constantly demand more but don’t give raises and if they do, the raises are so low they don’t cover cost-of-living increases. Even when the company/division has been profitable, they make excuses as to why they won’t give raises. Brady Corp and WPS chew their employees up and then spit them out. The company, division, and management demonstrate poor professional judgement and disloyalty to their employees. As a result, they have a high turnover rate, both voluntary and involuntary. There have been four division layoffs and four Chicago office relocations in less than three years, demonstrating questionable leadership. The company/division hires inexperienced managers who are responsible for the fallout but, instead of holding them responsible, enables them and stands idly by as these managers blame their own failures on subordinates. Many employees have been laid off without even a “thank you,” instead having the door slammed in their faces. Their approach to increasing profits is to implement yearly layoffs, which is a cop-out for poor management decisions. What’s more, as a safety and compliance company, instead of making employee safety a priority during the COVID-19 pandemic, they’ve been more focused on bringing employees back into the office to uphold the company’s “no work from home” policy. Ironically, they will allow a select group of employees to work from home indefinitely without any legitimate explanation as to why that’s allowed. The only things that matters to Brady Corp are its shareholders’ profits and company policy. Their actions show they don’t value their employees. The company and WPS represent a patriarchal Old Boys Club that imposes strict rules on most of their employees (minus a select few); is operationally disorganized resulting in repeated mistakes; and is terminally non-progressive. To survive at Brady and WPS, you’ll need to compromise your principals. If you challenge management’s approach or processes in an effort to make improvements (even when they ask for suggestions), management will reject them. It’s just a trap to identify dissenters so they can reprimand them. If you choose to work here, be forewarned: You’ll be fed a trough of lies dripping with honey. It’s only a ruse. Run for the hills, and work somewhere else. You won’t be sorry you did. But you will be sorry if you work for Brady Corp.
