Pros
Great staff. Family First mentality.
Cons
Non-profit world salary range and stress of working at Jewish organization with anti-semitism on the rise
Pros
- nice leadership - great salary - good opportunities for growth
Cons
staff can be a little mean/petty sometimes but it depends on time of employment. As a counselor you work with other college aged students causing some drama.
Pros
The co-workers are generally great people who care a lot about the work they do and there is a farm on site where you can visit the plants and animals to find a moment of stillness and sanity when dealing with the intense stress.
Cons
The staff who are on the SLT (Senior Leadership Team) are arrogant, have their heads in the clouds and don't do anything meaningful to bring about changes that we have been asking for years. Instead the buy a coffee cart. They sit comfortably at their cushy income while other employees are struggling to make ends meet. Every year we get a 3% raise on the measly $18 per hour starting wage and when you think about the 3% on salary of SLT Team (100 thousand to 300 thousand per year!), it's extremely unbalanced. Additionally many employees have been let go recently for completely unexplainable reasons. We given lame excuses and the people who are let go are almost always integral to our team and suddenly we are left with holes to fill. Granted a couple staff members for sure needed to go but not everyone! If you do the job as you are told to do it, follow the rules, don't ask too many questions about the system, you can stay in the same position for the long haul. I have been here for years and I've seen it happen over and over again. Someone expresses disappointment, unhappiness or brings up an issue, their immediate team works to fix it but the individuals who are on SLT just make vain attempts to change and don't really make meaningful changes. Specific SLT Members cause toxic environment at the Boulder JCC. We hear about this even on the preschool side. When will it change?? Teachers can't make enough money to live in the county where we work!
