Pros

1) Quite high salaries for biotech 2) Many research projects and collaborations to be involved in and potential for publication 3)Quite easy to manage work-life balance

Cons

1) Leads are forcing to violate local and Russian laws with taxes and residence permit. 2) CEO, leads and all higher management making empty promises to compensate taxes, pay for tickets to home, open Europe office and so on and several months after just say that they were misunderstood 3) Labor agreement is violating local labor laws with no job description in the agreement 4) Higher managers forcing to work overtime using blackmail that "Russians cannot go anywhere, you are needed only in BostonGene" 5) CEO, leads and all higher managements try to forbid to work from Russia, but they cannot control because it will violate Armenian labor laws, so it is just intimidation, and many employees are working from Russia secretly for months because it is impossible even to receive normal medical care in Armenia 6) Nearby 50% of employees are doing nothing in company - they just inventing new rules every week without any need for that and spend hours on useless meetings. They just wasting resources and time of real working colleagues 7) No career development at all - the only way you can get a promotion - befriend with one of the leads. Nobody cares about your performance - another consequence of it - only friends opinion and work matters 8) There is absolutely impossible to find anyone competent in bioinformatics or biology on Armenian job market, so company hired all wives /husbands and friends of company's employees with at least a little suitable education which leads to extremely toxic culture inside company 9) Company try to find anyone in Russia to relocate to Armenia, offering 1x Armenian market salary, which nearby 500$ per month

Pros

Remote work flexibility and some supportive coworkers.

Cons

During my time at the company, one of the biggest challenges was a lack of alignment across leadership. Expectations were not always clearly communicated, and guidance could vary depending on who you spoke to, which made it difficult to consistently meet expectations. Professional development and long-term growth opportunities also felt limited. There did not appear to be a strong or structured focus on helping employees progress in their roles. The company places significant emphasis on promoting a “family” culture during hiring and onboarding. However, the day-to-day experience did not always reflect that level of support. I also experienced confusion around performance management processes. Although I had received positive feedback from my direct manager, I was later placed on a two-week PIP initiated by another manager. The short timeframe and change in management involvement made expectations unclear and made it challenging to navigate the process effectively. At times, the work environment could feel political. While there were supportive individuals on the team, there was also a noticeable sense that employees needed to be cautious in certain situations. There was also an emphasis on encouraging employees to share personal experiences in team settings. However, in my experience, information shared in those contexts could later be referenced in professional discussions, which made it difficult to feel fully comfortable being open. Overall, greater consistency in leadership communication, clearer expectations, and more structured support for employees would improve the work environment.
