Pros
Flexible work arrangement. One can work from home for a week or more for sick young children.
Cons
Although not spelled out black and white on paper, one often does have to work over time late night hours or early mornings to accomodate offshore resources' schedule. Operational saving might be at cost of the current employees who are dedicated.
