Pros
Typically offered hours, a decent end-of-season bonus, and an overall good group of coworkers. The pay, depending on what position you work, is alright for the hours worked in a given shift. Management will grant time off if given proper notice. If you like working with tourists like I did, you will find this job fulfilling.
Cons
Working outside with inadequate equipment and gear (management will only offer up to $50 for khakis for your uniform but will not offer rain gear, hot weather gear, and other essentials for outdoor labor). Little to no flexibility with hours, especially considering most GSRs are students. I frequently went home with heat stroke in the summer because of the inadequate gear, no shade/AC, no proper break room, and being on my feet for 10-12 hour shifts. Although good reviews are important and should be prioritized in the tourism industry, the lack of support from management in stressful guest experiences was disheartening.
