I really had to chase my bosses down and harass people to get projects to do, and even then a lot of them were typical intern jobs like laminating stuff, cleaning white boards, and buying snacks for plant visitors. The only projects I did that were really related to my major was following around other engineers and taking notes on what they were doing. I want to emphasize that this was my own personal experience.
They also have a LOT of needlessly complicated procedures for simple things. There is a lot of redundant bureaucracy that just makes it hard to get tasks done.
