Pros
The employee discount of 30% is very nice. Other employees and manager are very personable and fun. Management is great to work with when time off is needed.
Cons
This job is not at all what most people expect. You are surrounded by books you can not read, and sell tobacco products but are not allowed to smoke yourself even on a break. This is made very clear upon hiring and the 15+ cameras that are 'watched every month for theft and employee misconduct' make sure you keep yourself occupied dusting. Breaks are nonexistent. Normally you work alone and are allowed one 10min break if you work over 4.5 hours. And that's hoping you can snag that time between customers. The only time you are allowed a lunch if you are scheduled over 8hrs and another employee is there. Also, during that time you're not allowed to sit. And while this might sound a bit lazy, try spending 8hrs a day on your feet, stocking books, bending and lifting boxes and not have a moment to sit down until you get home. Hours are sparse despite there being work to do and double staffing would come in handy on days when shipments come in. There are no benefits unless you are management. There is no room for raises (in fact their handbook warns you will rarely ever see a raise) or advancement in the company
