Pros

- As a trip leader, I got to spend my summers traveling in the South Pacific, Central America, Europe, and the western USA with a great group of teens and co-guides - Getting paid to travel and do all the activities (rafting, scuba diving, trekking, zip lining, taking Spanish classes, etc.) - Upward mobility; our trip leaders are often top candidates for director and leadership positions - Supportive, people-first environment - Super fun and informative paid staff training in Colorado - Care about the families we travel with; BE stresses personal connections with families and not just numbers - Working on DEI initiatives (the outdoor ed industry in general isn't great at DEI and it's good to see effort being put into this)

Cons

- Job requires flexibility for trip placement so you can't pick what specific trip you want to lead

Pros

I started at Bold Earth directly after graduating from college. I worked with other outdoor companies throughout the years in other seasons, and Bold Earth is the only one I kept coming back to. PROS: -Bold Earth has the most magical leader culture; they value open communication, caring deeply about each other, and spending time together. It's a whole new set of friends to do awesome things with throughout the year. -The office does its best to support you from afar while you are on your trips, you can tell they really care. -You have local guides in foreign countries, which helps you focus on social/emotional growth & bonding with your students. -You get to participate in most or all the rad activities that your students get to do. -There's so many opportunities to mentor, love & share a sense of adventure with youth.

Cons

-Being a trip leader is FULL ON. Personal time can be hard to come by during the summer. Advocating for your needs is important!! -They only run trips in summer means it can be hard to fit BE in your schedule if you have a full time job.

Pros

- Feedback culture is strong here! Positive and constructive feedback is encouraged and asked for at every level. The company is always trying to better itself and always pushing their staff to grow and learn to be the best versions of themselves while always giving grace to individuals and situations. - Amazing trips with exciting activities that you get to enjoy yourselves. - Lots of opportunities to create your own magic on trips with the kids. You can really infuse your own style into things. - Great office environment, very collaborative and fun! - If you're looking for a place to hone your communication skills, trailer backing skills, group management skills, and so much more, this is an amazing place to do so! - People first management style. The office is always more focused on you as a person from staff, to students, to parents, etc. than they are with money, numbers, etc. - Ownership actively reinvests in the company in tangible ways, staff wages, travel stipends, new gear, etc. Things that directly make working at Bold Earth better.

Cons

- Summers can be hard and grueling. You will often have little sleep and little down time between trips. Be prepared for this as it is what most leaders struggle while during the summer. - You need to want to work with kids. This isn't a con if working with kids is something you enjoy, in fact it is a huge pro! But it does come with its own challenges, and you should be prepared for them. We have great students, but behavioral things will always come up.
