The wireless space is interesting

I come to work to contribute and feel good about the work I achieve at the end of each day. Unfortunately, HR focuses on silly games and wreath making and trivia contests and Halloween more than management does on the business. They call this "culture." True story, and read this before you accept your a job at Boingo, for Black History Month, HR did the exact same "event"they did for Super Bowl--a TRIVIA CONTEST! It was the most demeaning thing I, as an African American, have ever experienced in a company. That is why I left. Management does not want to hear it but this place has a major diversity problem. Can you imagine every hour getting a Black History Month Trivia Contest Email from the HR department, and on the second to last day of Black History Month! HR and management are tone deaf about how they treat minorities. A lot of people were mortified at this HR program...that you would treat the importance of Black History Month like you do a Halloween or Oscars or Grammy's event. But you can't complain to HR, they are the people who think it is appropriate. Tone deaf, I repeat, about the way they handle minorities.

We typically don't respond to feedback on Glassdoor because we believe open and transparent communication is critical. In fact, it's one of Boingo's core values. But in this case, we feel it is important to share one of the ways that employees play a role in Boingo’s culture. Simply put, we encourage folks to get behind ideas they are passionate about. When a Boingoite raises their hand to host an initiative or cause that's important to them, as was the case for Black History month, we help put their idea into motion. So far this year, Boingo employees have sponsored initiatives for LGBTQ+ Pride, Dress For Success, Ride Your Bike To Work Week, Plant-Based Diet awareness, Mindfulness Meditation, and more. In all cases, our intent is to support the employee's idea, not be disrespectful. Thanks for the candid feedback.

Great reputation and history of numerous large scale carrier funded DAS and Wi-Fi deployments

Cons

Cold calling and business development is heavily measured rather than strategically aligning with partners. Leads are scarce, so prospecting dominates rather than being in front of a customer and closing. Marketing is exceptional but their message lacks a clear understanding of customer needs or the technical attributes of In building wireless. Chat GPT is over utilized and 30 page PowerPoint presentations are used for proposals. Little to no input from sales. Turnover is extremely high, from upper management down to sales. Ethics is marginal. Hierarchy rather than a team approach is used to manage the teams. Boing's pricing is not competitive.
