Pros

You get to network with great artists and clientele. You learn from the artists. Perhaps this is good for a beginning makeup artist.

Cons

Every successful artist knows better than to work here because the pay is horrible. Towards the end of my employment with blushington they started hiring low level artists with no experience because they were the only ones that would accept the amount of pay they were offering. Every experienced artist knows their value. At first, when I got hired I was told that this company loves to see their artists grow and they are a company that grows from within. With my experience there, yes they do promote you but you watch the promoted person go from a person full of color to someone who needs to be in a hospital. They don't only drain lower management, they drain the artists. As an artist you will end up being housekeeping, a receptionist, a stock person, and everything else ... oh yeah and then an artist. Let's not forget that they pay you $10/hr to do everything that's not in your contract after they guilt you into doing it. EVERYONE LITERALLY QUITS THIS JOB or get gets fired before they are able to quit. God forbid you try to freelance with your own clients (because you need money to survive), they will try and take your clients or blame you for "stealing" their clients when they never even heard about blushington. They will think they own you. The CEO of this company is absolutely selfish. When you first meet her she will recite this welcome speech that you think is sincere but is completely the opposite. When you get to know the company more you will see her demons come out. She will talk down to you as is your a speck in her way. She will intimidate you and make you feel as if you have no worth. When in fact, you are the person making her the money. What they all fail to realize is that THEY NEED YOU in order to keep their company running. The funniest part is that they watch their cameras 24/7 and will call you and ruin your day to pick on the smallest things in life. They also make you do these events with out your consent and only pay you $10 an hour when you can be at the shop making $10 plus your tips at least. And you also whiteness the unsanitary conditions this place is in. Not to mention there is no fire safety protocol if there's a fire you are trapped. There is fungus growing on filters and gosh it's just gross.

Pros

Excellent training when hired and continued education. discounts, and occasional gratis products. Percentage of sales. Clean safe location. Ability to network with other professionals. I also found the management and corporate team to be supportive and upbeat.

Cons

Down time without clients. Since the hourly pay was not great, if you a guest that tipped poorly it hurt.
