Pros

Amazing co-workers, almost everyone is really, really polite. They will wish you the best luck when they meet you. The perks are average: free coffee, a mess room and health insurance for permanent workers. The company is obsessed with Quality Management. All as to be done by the book. There is a company dinner near Christmas and a team building event in July (before most people take their summer vacation). Got to admit that the summer event is getting fancier by the year and the team always have a lot of fun.

Cons

Well, take a pen. • Both events are implicitly mandatory. Your absence will be noticed and taken in consideration when the time comes. • The company relies too much on internships. Some lesser visible positions rely solely on interns from whom is demanded to bring forth as much as a seasoned employee. Not much support: they give you 1 or 2 days to read the norms and procedures and that's it, you are on your own. That's why some fondly call the company "The Train Station" (always someone coming in while others are coming out). • Management sees labor rights as a business threat. Have been a mother and want to spend as much time as possible with your new born child? Have been a father and you want to be as supportive to the mother and child as any XXI Century man should be? Well, think again. Expect some retaliation on your way back. All old school mobbing techniques will be thrown at you. You are expected to stay at home only as much time as you are legally obligated. In the meanwhile, it would be great if you took your laptop home with you. Pregnancy won't keep you from being sacked either. True story. • Also be prepared to have no online privacy. One would expect some level of surveillance but the system in place would make Mr. George Orwell blush like a little child with is pants down. • The company is severely understaffed. I know, everyone says that. Believe me, you will experience it by yourself when you realize you don't have a girlfriend two weeks after she moves away or your kids start calling you "uncle" those few times you see them awake. • Don't expect to make a career. Don't believe it if they told you otherwise. It will only increase your misery. It's still a relatively small company, growing very fast. Leading positions are scarce and many of those aiming for them will do anything to get it. For the same reason, those already with a leading role, will grasp it with both hands and try to dim your light if you are shinning to much in the eyes of top management. • The company is not one single team. Each department (manager) competes fiercely for the available (financial) resources, sometimes putting the all company needs at stake. Remember what I said about career? Because of this it's not very healthy to assume a mistake, even if company policy demands it. Be prepared to see a lot of finger pointing and witch hunting. Next to this, "Game of Thrones" is a baby's sleeping time story. If you already follow the show, you have no need for this type of real life drama. My advice: if you are an intern, do your time, finish your internship and add that to your CV. They will suck your life out of you if they can. Why should they care if you burn out if you are only staying for some months and there are already some others to take you place? You are not an intern and have another job offer? Take it. You don't? Well, there are some good things. Have I mentioned that the summer event is really fun and will provide some really cool selfies for you Facebook timeline? :)

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Bluepharma. We are glad that you appreciated, our perks, team building events and also our concern regarding Quality issues. We are very disappointed to read that your experience did not met all your expectations. Since the beginning of 2015 we have been introducing new Policy’s regarding Career Management and Training & Development. New projects are being implemented, like for example a performance appraisal program that we hope will be launched in 2017. Regarding your allegations, we prefer to answer him with data: 1 “The company relies too much on internships” – Work force – only 10% of our workers are Interns… 2 Management sees labor rights as a business threat - Portuguese Labor Law is mandatory, it not depends on individual opinions… 3 Also be prepared to have no online privacy - Every company have an IT Policy, you just have to follow it… 4 The company is severely understaffed - 61 hiring’s since beginning of 2016 5 Don't expect to make a career - Internal Mobility – 13 Workers moved into a new role since beginning o 2016 6 Next to this, "Game of Thrones" is a baby's sleeping time story - Retention rate – 7 Years, according to 2015 indicators Regarding your advices to our Management Team, we appreciate and thank you for your feedback, because it’s very important to us. We wish you all the best, “Without data you’re just another person with an opinion.” - W. Edwards Deming”

Pros

Lunch in the canteen Parking space for employees

Cons

Minimal salary for the job category. Poor departmental management. You do the work of 2–3 people because they don't want to connect with anyone else, and senior management only looks on from above but is rarely hands-on.
