Pros

Absolutely loved the local staff at my branch I worked with. Pay was great. Work life balance is good. Opportunity to do remote work 2 days out of the week. If I only had to deal with my local coworkers and not corporate there’s a good chance I’d still be there.

Cons

Health insurance is not great. A lot of disparity between the corporate office and the branches. When they need something it has to be done right now but getting them to do something without following up 3-4 times is nearly impossible. Very frustrating as they seem to want to centralize and run a lot of the purchasing and decision making through corporate but it was can take days to get responses and you almost always have to follow up again to get an answer. If you are experienced in the building materials industry, be advised that most of the ELT do not have a lumber background.

Pros

Not too many. They do provide logo shirts etc.

Cons

No clear direction. Local leadership is not honest nor transparent. No annual reviews. Feedback is rare and untimely. The 80/20 business model for customer loyalty is shortsighted and surreptitious. Local GM manipulates quarterly/annual goals and gross margins effecting commissions. High turnover with Territory Managers. Conflicting sales goals and programs. Experience is not valued. Executive leadership is focused exclusively on bottom line. The running joke is instead of "Delivering What Matters" they are "Talking About What Matters". Too many generals and not enough sergeants. Some General Managers profess to be "Servant Leaders" however they are disingenuous. I wouldn't recommend working here unless you really need the job, and then, don't plan on a long and rewarding career.
