Pros

Some good learning experience in terms of general business and working with multiple departments

Cons

No one is passionate, no real training, management is only concerned with getting their retirement packages eventually because they've been there so long. Technology is embarrassing-still using programs that were developed in house in the 90's. The only reason they stay alive is because of the monopoly deals there have with their customers who don't know any better because they're so used to using Bluelinx to transport their products

Thank you for post. Even though you no longer work with us, we would still love to hear some of your suggestions for technology enhancements. In the meantime, I don't know when you left BlueLinx, but we have made a number of technology enhancements in the past few years, including putting tablets in the hands of all of our outside sales associates with real-time data to empower them to better serve our customers. In the meantime, we wish you the best with your next endeavor.

Pros

Not too many. They do provide logo shirts etc.

Cons

No clear direction. Local leadership is not honest nor transparent. No annual reviews. Feedback is rare and untimely. The 80/20 business model for customer loyalty is shortsighted and surreptitious. Local GM manipulates quarterly/annual goals and gross margins effecting commissions. High turnover with Territory Managers. Conflicting sales goals and programs. Experience is not valued. Executive leadership is focused exclusively on bottom line. The running joke is instead of "Delivering What Matters" they are "Talking About What Matters". Too many generals and not enough sergeants. Some General Managers profess to be "Servant Leaders" however they are disingenuous. I wouldn't recommend working here unless you really need the job, and then, don't plan on a long and rewarding career.
