Pros
If you need hours and pay prior to or while in some form of graduate program or medical school There are a number of jobs to pick from. Working in certain areas of the metro and with certain sports/age groups is accompanied by helicopter parents. Just a part of the job, if you can't hand it then probably not the job for you or EMS/EM in general.
Cons
You have to supply your own medical supplies. Some clients may expect you to contain a closet similar to that of an orthopedic or emergency room center
