Pros

The majority of the staff are talented, hard working individuals. Great group of people who are committed to producing amazing work for their clients. Also, they offer decent salaries, especially for Grand Rapids, MI. And, the office space is amazing.

Cons

The executive team doesn't seem to be equipped to successfully run a company. Above all, their decision-making skills are extremely poor and they operate in an unprofessional manner. They fail to plan long-term. Instead, they are constantly reacting to situations in a dramatic manner because they failed to plan on the front end. Due to their poor decisions, they appear to be "all over the place" on a constant basis which doesn't make employees feel very secure. Also, many employees feel disrespected due to the way that the Executive Team speaks to them. Lastly, it seems that they should stick to their respective backgrounds (marketing and journalism) instead of trying to run a company.

Pros

- Good benefits and pay - Healthy work and people management - Work life balance is great for a marketing agency - No interpersonal drama and toxic people--they stand up for their best workers.

Cons

- Marketing as an industry can be really fast paced and busy, there is no exception here. Active management is so important in this industry, and they do a great job!

Pros

As the title mentions, there's a lot of wonderfully talented people at BFT. Some of the best I've worked with in my career, who care immensely about doing great work that brings results to their clients. Total compensation is competitive, with a decent bonus structure and generous healthcare contributions from the company. Both locations have beautiful office space and offer a fair amount of flexibility and work from home perks.

Cons

Executive Leadership is out of touch with their employees and their clients, caring most about profit when they should be focused on bringing solutions that actually benefit their clients' businesses. Very important business decisions are made based on emotion and 'gut' feelings without anyone paying attention to long-term impacts or the core reasons behind the visible symptoms of failure. Employees are disrespected, lied to and lied about (to both other employees AND clients) as a matter of course in order to preserve a false sense that without the brilliance of the leadership team the place wouldn't survive. Meanwhile some of the best and brightest employees are mistreated, thrown under the bus and generally bullied until they either leave or stop caring. There's enough ego in the executive team to fuel 100 Madison Avenue shops. For an agency that was on an upward trajectory, it's sad to see. And clients are noticing, too.
