Pros
As a current Mutt, I find BlogMutt to offer a very flexible work schedule for freelance writers with no strict deadlines unless the client will expire soon. Writers can choose clients and topics. Writers invoice BlogMutt and get paid on time. The opportunity to work everyday or occasionally are a tremendous blessing. Very helpful writers and BlogMutt staff in the forum section. Easy to apply and be accepted. If you have small errors, they are willing to work with you.
Cons
The tone of communications with people (in the forum) is discouraging, which is why you will not see as many minorities participating. Additionally, the staff needs to consider their tone of voice within emails and correspondences concerning issues. Sometimes, I never even get a response back from support. You are forced to use the forum at times. I understand that staff is very busy. However, timely and professional communications can help prevent negative reviews. Some staff members are very nice, while others need a Diversity 101 course. My suggestion (if you are a person of color): Do not post your photo on your profile. You will benefit much more with the forum responses and such. BlogMutt makes a killing off of its writers. If a client pays $25 per 350-word article, the writer makes $10.50 while BlogMutt pockets the remainder. Same with higher word-count assignments.
