Pros

Possibility to positively disrupt the mortgage process New CFO is polite All the workplace perks to keep young engineers happy Competitive wages

Cons

Company Culture is T.O.X.I.C - The touted company principles are window dressing at best, there is no trabsparency of what is happening one week to the next. People show up to work drunk, still high from narcotics over the weekend, have emotional outbursts in meetings, even peeing in office trashcans. Dogs pooping in the office is a regular discussion on Slack. Micromanagement ("Pacing" as referred to internally) is used heavily behind closed doors. HR team is clueless on employee engagement, and Inclusion (the D&I leader left after 6months). InfoSec operates from a position of Paranoia. IT is nested under InfoSec and the CISO is ill equipped to run both teams. Strategic Planning is not part of standard operating procedure. Everyday is firefighting above and beyond the level of other startups. Literally things catch fire in the office due to lack of common sense.

Pros

Remote work is really the only pro that this company has left.

Cons

I have had the pleasure of working for Blend for multiple years and have witnessed a shift in their priorities from employee-wellbeing to profit. Upper management will take your resources to do your job, replace them with cheaper products, and then complain about your performance. You’d be lucky to be one of the ones who makes it past one of their many layoffs as well. You will put your blood, sweat, and tears into this job and will not be rewarded. Measly raises and unfair pay is a huge issue as well, putting employer morale so low. People are paid below half of their market value and expected to keep their heads above water.
