Pros

- fully remote - worked with some really great people I will miss - chance to meet in person twice a year

Cons

- benefits have gotten worse since 2023 (In case the company responds, feedback has not been 'positive' on PTO changes) - profit sharing is advertised as a benefit, but is very little and isn't much of a thing practically - team expectations and goals can be very unrealistic with high pressure - despite the small team size, there is a large amount of process and red tape around everything - high turnover rate across teams; many people leaving without having another job lined up - productively is measured tooth and nail, and often using metrics that don't work - over-emphasis on "core values" weekly meeting where we have forced sharing of personal lives and shoutouts for people that live the values. it's whatever but maybe a little cultish - over-emphasis on 'personality testing'. interviewing is tough and conducting interviews is difficult. a lot of weird questions you have to ask. - it feels like teams aren't trusted to know how to do their jobs; a good amount of micromanagement. - very deadline-driven. very little work is put into creating realistic deadline goals, and results from those deadlines are never looked back on or reflected on - there seems to be a fundamental disconnect between leadership and the teams on the ground helping to build the product. very little collaboration, while directives and goals seem to only flow downward by way of a mandate without anyone understanding why - despite the small company size, senior leadership can be hard to get ahold of. Much of the C-suite is fractional and have more of a consulting relationship with the company than full-time, and I have been told setting up time with the CEO should be done through his assistant, who lives in the UK and has different hours from most of the rest of the team

Pros

I'm one of the very few returning employees. I worked Full-Time -> Part time Contract -> then Full-Time again. I decided to come back because I've seen growth from leadership. In my role, I have autonomy on how to best perform my job and my direct manager is fantastic. The team I work with every day is extremely talented and care about the work they put out, making this job very enjoyable. Work is remote, health insurance options are good. I was in the FTO to PTO moment and while I'll prefer FTO all my life, PTO is 3 weeks and "could be worse".

Cons

Constant priority changes can be tough, especially when we are unable to fulfill a goal because we need to focus on something else. Despite day to day challenges, I'm able to focus on my work.

Pros

Remote workforce and some room for growth (largely because it's a small company)

Cons

This company likely won't be around for long. It's poorly managed and Amber Book is making moves to push BKS out of the competition pool. I would highly recommend finding another place to work if you can.
