Pros

BioControl is a small company which means you will get exposed to other departments and skills not required in your standardized job title. Most of the people that work at BCS are motivated individuals and that is not including management. They have a yearly Christmas and BBQ for the entire company.

Cons

Biocontrol will be a dead end for your career. I say get in and out within a yearly because after that there is nothing more they can do for you. If you do join the company you better be happy with your starting salary because the reviews are standard across the board no matter if you work harder and there are not anything to get over joyed about. You get a yearly review which takes the company a few months to get it to you but instead of back paying you for the months you should of had your new pay they will just make your next yearly review for the time they finished up. That means you will work more then 12 months before you got your next review and pay increase. If there is a job opening (if your lucky) during your time do not expect a promotional raise because they will call it a lateral move even though your work load just tripled. The parking there is small and terrible. Drive a car you do not like because it will get door dinged or even hit due to the spaces are very tight.

Pros

BioControl is a growing company in the stable business of food safety testing. As a long-term employee with the company, I have been treated very well both personally and professionally. I have been given opportunities that I don’t think that I would have had at other companies. Benefits are very competitive and there are several fun social events during the year (such as an annual picnic, frequent barbecues, and a great holiday luncheon with generous door prizes). The office is clean and modern and being located in Factoria, we have free parking!

Cons

For myself, I can’t identify any cons that would not normally occur in most companies, because a perfect one doesn’t exist. I think that if you work hard and do your best, the company more than meets you halfway. Upper management can be very direct, and I prefer that. For the times I have been critiqued, it was deserved, and I know I’m better at my job because of it. That being said, I do not ever remember a time when it wasn’t a two way conversation about what happened and why. The longevity here is not because of any “syndrome” (that most people today would even know about, much less relate to), but because it’s a good place to work. The job market is improving, yet I see no evidence of a mass exodus here. It’s only too bad that employers are not allowed to respond in kind to some criticisms, I think there would be a little more clarity to a few of the pictures being painted here.
