Pros

If you like driving then you will like the job

Cons

You start your weekend on Friday and don't end until Monday and sometimes you still have a shift on Monday. You sleep when you can. They don't care if you've already been on the clock for 16 hours, you have to go do the stat 2 hours away. You do overnight call after working a full shift which can mean staying out all night. They're call pay is not the best I've seen. If you are to tired to drive they do not care. They're health insurance is OK but I had problems finding providers that took their insurance... there was like 2 dentists in my city that took their dental. You get to deal with nurses who are ordering exams and don't know the difference from a humerus and a forearm. Even if you call with an eta the patient is never ready and they don't have paperwork ready for you. Sometimes the nurses don't call btx if they send out a resident so you drive round trip 4 hours to not do an exam. Luckily you do get paid driving time. There is basically no ladder to climb opportunity wise.

Pros

We help people, and that is a pro. With every minute there is a person on the other line, and we aren’t selling anything. We are just supporting nurses to help them care for their patients. We work from home, and the company supplies us with all of the tech and equipment to preform our duties.

Cons

The work from home atmosphere is draining; no team building, no office comradery, no office friendships. You can try but you don’t even know what they look like in real life. It’s just a grind, day in day out. The reward is - you have a reliable job. There are as many supervisors on every day as call takers, and there is some micromanagement. This is a call center with incoming calls. Depending on your shift worked you will get non stop calls, and there is other work you must balance that with. There is pressure. Working full time from home isn’t so easy, as people believe it to be. This is not remote. It is fully work in home office. There is not a lot of room for growth.
