Pros

You ever felt like you're the smartest person in the room? Frustrated that your solutions to complex problems will never be considered or implemented? That is not how it is here. Feel the fulfillment of not always being the smartest person in the room. Having others who are better at you than something, but you still stand out, and have validation to your ideas and input. The pros of working at Bigcommerce are far more than just a hashtag list of free drinks, or beer at work. Those are cool perks yes, but the reality is that what makes working at Bigcommerce amazing is to see hard work and collaboration come to fruition. See people who you care about step up, and take new roles and challenges, and share in their struggles, and share in the success. Ever worked at a company where the CFO walks down the halls with the workers and asks you how you are doing? And actually means it? Having leadership that knows that happy employees are more productive than employees living in fear for their job. You can read the negative reviews. Remember that those primarily come from dissatisfaction bias. People who are leaving negative reviews perhaps did have a negative experience. But remember that usually only unhappy people leave reviews. If you're looking for a place that is easy, and gives you trophies for participating, keep looking. If you are looking for a place that acknowledges, and rewards hard work, you may want to consider talking to people who are successful here. That would be of course offered in juxtaposition to only reading reviews from people who couldn't cut it. Also, since this is outdated and states that the CEO are still the co-founders, I want to point out that Brent Bellm is absolutely amazing. Incredibly intelligent, personable, and compassionate. Business acumen is through the roof!

Cons

Office is amazing, but a gnarly commute. You have 2 road choices, 620, or 2222. Both of those roads seem to be filled with crayon eaters commuting in the morning. Also, due to the rising cost and difficulty in finding an appropriate location (Keep in mind a lot of employees have relocated to be closer to work, and that is obviously considered when looking for a new office). Application of industry standards to employees, while it may not be followed by leadership. 6 month requirement to move to a new position. While this may industry standard, working at a fast paced company where strategy can change 3x in a year, it is premature to enforce this.

Pros

There is a lot of new leadership breathing newness into the company. There is a rebrand on the horizon, different focuses and positioning, complimentary portfolio products, brilliant staff, new company values and more.

Cons

There has been a ton of change and while the new leadership is great, they are still getting their touch on things. This isn't all so much a con in general as it is to absorb, communicate, explain and soak in.

Pros

- BC hires great people - Is finally focusing on the product and its ideal customer rather than trying to be a product that it isn't. - Supportive culture - Good work life balance - Senior and Director leadership is caring and supportive - Really positive outlook for the product

Cons

- Has cut 10% of staff every year for the last 3 years and last year they cut most of their top performers that brought in the most revenue - No 401k match (although they may now) - Lower pay than most tech companies for the same roles - Either BC has the right people in place or they have the right direction to work in with the right leadership but never both - If you are remote, you aren't invited to the office much even for kick offs or planning. So you will feel a bit secluded. - Not much room for career growth as they keep cutting people
