Pros

The company has evolved a lot over the last six years, implementing a more modern and comprehensive curriculum, streamlining its management system, and improving contract terms for employees. There is a strong company culture of encouraging new ideas. Teaching experience has improved a lot with smaller class sizes and more proactive curation of the student roster. The long-form lesson format of 2-2.5 hours with 2-4 different classes each week mean you can build meaningful relationships with your students and observe real progress. The company is excellent at supporting its employees when they face difficult circumstances, professionally or in their personal lives. There are a few (but perhaps not enough) very experienced educators and managers at the company who have made real long-term, consistent commitments to the success of the company. There is a degree of freedom in how you execute your lessons and making the most of this is essential.

Cons

This is still the private language education industry in Asia and there isn't any escaping that fact. It can therefore be hard for some to accept some of the dynamics at play in an organization that is ultimately run according to a certain set of values and cultural expectations. Internal communication systems within the company can be inconsistent.

Pros

Higher than average salary, offset by a lot of unpaid external work

Cons

Extreme variability in competence of head teachers by branch. Some of them seem great. My personal experience with my branch's head teacher was belittling and unprofessional. Like most other cram schools, management cares about money and keeping parents happy above all else. They complained about things like using too many staples and provided absolutely no support for extreme behavioral issues (ie violence) in the classroom.

Pros

- Get paid on time, monthly cycle (15th of each month). - Taxes, health insurance, and labor insurance are paid legally (I think). - School lunch and afternoon snack is provided.

Cons

For first-timers, it can be a culture shock. The lack of autonomy, being ignored or shut down by staff about making changes or doing things differently, and the hierarchical, top-down structure—where the controlling CEO holds the sole decision-making authority over every detail—can be quite challenging to deal with. This is on top of learning how to teach a boring and dry curriculum, the time-consuming manual marking of assessments and uploading grades electronically, and managing a classroom with highly energetic students without the support of a teacher assistant. This cram school/daycare center is better suited for foreigners who have lived in Taiwan or Asia for a long, long time. No winter school hours and summer school hours are not guaranteed.
