Pros

They have a good management trainee program which I am thankful for them having because it was how I was able to get my foot in the door and make my way up in the company.

Cons

I was a manager with Big 5 for about 8 years and during that time, corporate would not back up their managers if there were complaints toward management or staff from customers. The pay was not bad but not for as much work went into everyday projects which included working in dress clothes while doing hard projects on top of helping and serving customers. Being a store manager was supposed to have perks but not really it ended up becoming worse especially once you became salary and you never got to see your family around the holiday times or would have to come in and work at various times if there ended up being no coverage. If you are looking for work/life balance you will definitely not get any of that with Big 5 sporting goods especially being in management.

Pros

Most employees were really fun to work with, life/work balance was great, taught me good life skills, good first job for work experience.

Cons

Barely got scheduled (pretty sure my location was way over employed), occasional rude and entitled costumers (especially during the holidays), could get very slow and boring at times, sketchy area, overal, not a great job if you're looking for something that pays well.
