We are grateful when our people here provide feedback on how we’re doing. As we encourage ‘open door’ communication throughout our organization we’re sorry you didn’t choose that route first. It’s very important to me personally that anyone working at Bezdan has a positive experience, so I’m glad that you think your colleagues here are ‘good folks to work with’. We agree - we have a great team at Bezdan. It’s unfortunate that you hold a negative opinion of management, and we take that seriously. Your impression of management doesn’t align with what we seek to demonstrate under our Mission Statement which incudes fostering an environment of fair-dealing, mutual trust, and respect. Our company core values include integrity, professionalism, accountability, and leadership so if you feel that management hasn’t demonstrated those values, we’d like to hear directly from you. Please communicate with me or your manager in whatever way you feel comfortable to discuss your concerns and give us the opportunity to work together to address them. Pros

Having worked at a number of companies over my career, I can easily say that Bezdan has one of the strongest cultures I have ever been a part of. From an extremely fair and reasonable Executive Leadership group, to a deeply engrained commitment to customer service...the entire organization lives and breaths its values.

Cons

To flourish in business for over 60 years, the process of Bezdan's decision making is pragmatic and well thought out. Obviously, a major contributor to the longevity of the organization and the success that has been enjoyed. However, some situations require quicker resolve. At times, the decision making process can be cumbersome.

It was heartening to read your positive remarks about our culture, leadership, service, and values. Thank you also for your constructive feedback regarding the decision-making process. We acknowledge that quicker turnarounds are sometimes necessary. While our collaborative approach to decision-making can be time-consuming, we also consider the potential long-term impacts of our decisions. This is an area we will continue to monitor and improve. Strong, cohesive warehouse team environment

Cons

Ownership, senior management have little or no understanding of the job and/or the costs of living and working in the lower mainland. They only see their bottom line.

We agree with you that we have a strong, cohesive warehouse team environment. As a longer tenured employee with the company, you’ll know first-hand that a strong team environment is only possible if everyone remains committed to the company’s vision of fair-dealing, mutual trust, and respect. As part of that team atmosphere we have an ‘open door’ policy of communication throughout our organization so we are sorry that you didn’t choose that path first. Your manager and the executive team, with myself included, are available to hear constructive feedback to assist us to grow, adapt, and improve. Our team atmosphere also means that everyone here rolls up their sleeves and pitches in wherever needed, including packing orders to meet shipping deadlines as all team members did, including the executive team, during the “crunch time” of March and April 2022. We’ll continue to help in the front lines, back office, or wherever we are needed. In the early years here, working alongside my dad, I spent many years in shipping/receiving and every position in the company learning from the ground-up. Although times have changed and jobs have evolved, we do strive to always maintain an understanding of each job function in our company. Watching the bottom line, especially during recessionary and acute inflationary periods, is critical to any company. Our role in leadership includes ensuring we are profitable so we can continue to invest in the company and its employees (compensation, benefits, Pro D opportunities). We understand and take seriously our role in financially supporting our employees and their families and will continue to ensure the company is profitable to meet that commitment. I encourage you to talk with me or your manager to share and discuss any concerns you may have so we can work together to address them. We most sincerely are looking for ways to keep building, growing, and improving here at Bezdan and your feedback and continued commitment can and will help.
