Pros

- People and culture: The team is extremally talented. One of the most intelligent, capable, hardworking, friendly, and emotionally intelligent group of co-workers. - Employees genuinely care about DEI - 100% remote company, with dedicated remote work benefits - Healthcare benefits package is fantastic - Unlimited PTO; and Bevy shuts down the last two weeks of the year - Work life balance is good for individual contributors

Cons

- Lack of clear strategic vision for the product. The overall product market fit is questionable and likely limited to a narrow use case. - Leadership is ineffective and management is poor. Without a clear vision they have struggled to create a product roadmap and deliver high impact work. The result has been years poor sales and revenue growth. Bevy has burned through a lot of funding with few positive business outcomes to show for it. - Executive Leadership is overly positive and consistently outlines unachievable or extremally unlikely business goals and then are shocked when they don’t happen. There is consistent lack of transparency in how they make these decisions or reach these conclusions. - Bevy had two rounds of layoffs in 2021, ~20% in January and ~40% October with a notable amount of attrition in-between layoffs. Team morale is low and burnout is high. - Bevy is surprisingly political and key decision making is siloed to the CEO and his executive team. This group is not transparent with their decision making and employees are frequently blindsided by major changes in direction. The CEO does not delegate work and decision-making authority effectively. Teams don’t feel empowered make independent decisions. This makes it harder for lower management levels to align employees work with company initiatives in a truly impactful way. - Cash compensation is below average and raises have been effectively frozen for a while. Most people who leave are getting double digit percent raises. - DEI efforts have mixed results at Bevy. Their was an huge emphasis on DEI in hiring, but between layoffs and attrition retention was poor. A number of employees were upset by a big contract with a client that has a well-documented history of inflicting harm on the LGBTQ community. Employees who questioned if this decision was aligned with our DEI values felt blowback. - Ongoing product reliability and usability problems. The product is old and feels like it. The technology is old and monolithic and work to address this is not prioritized. Leadership focuses on flashy new features that might drive growth over reliability and basic user experience improvements. - Lack of clear success metrics for the product and generally a mediocre solution for most enterprise customers. The Bevy platform has limited use internally. - Limited opportunity for career progression.
