Pros

Discount on alcohol and gaining knowledge of wine, spirits, cigars, ect. Buying a "mystery box", basically cases of beer that contained a broken bottle were put into a toy bin and we were aloud to make out own box by shoving all we could fit into it and paying a little bit of money.

Cons

Where do I begin? Since the very first day the management team had high expectations of us, it was a brand new store opening and the associates helped build it from the inside. We were expected to have all the knowledge in the world about everything in the store from a single wine class. Every associate was new to the team, management was pulled from other stores to work here. We were poorly trained as a group and they demanded the highest of customer service and knowledge to keep their "reputation". They over hired leaving us at 4-12 hours a week amongst receiving bi-weekly pay, even as people left for better things and the seasonal associates were let go the hours stayed the same. I was told if we worked hard we would receive advancements, not only did I not receive any advancement and no hours. What I got was a thing they called an "ACE Award" this is fine and dandy if this acknowledgement meant something better but no it did not I received a gold badge and some pin, they treated us as children. I had to take manager responsibilities as the managers were never found when needed. One of the assistant managers I was close with informed me they made him sign a waver so he waived his ability for health insurance and so forth to get 30+ hours a week. If you want low hours and to be worked hard for low pay then choose BevMo.

Pros

It was a great part time job as a college student. They worked around my schedule for my classes and I learned a lot from my coworkers.

Cons

Being young, I didn't have any experience with the different types of beer or wine. There is no training for it so when customers come up to you and ask you for help or opinion on a type of alcohol, it was a bit embarrassing.
