During my good few years at this company, I experienced repeated retrenchments and consistently high staff turnover, both of which had a negative impact on morale. Workloads and expectations were often pushed to a level I felt was unrealistic, with limited employee benefits to balance the demands. When I was retrenched, the process struck me as impersonal and lacking in respect. From my perspective, the company’s approach to staff created a culture where employees seemed disposable and had always left me with the thought of when I would be next.
