Pros

-They usually have pretty consistent work. - I get paid most of the time...(Sometimes my check is short.)

Cons

-They offer no paid time off to field employees. -No sick time, No vacation and even the National holidays they recognize and are closed, field employees don't get paid. - Also they deduct from prevailing wage rates at $10 per hour when on public works projects and put it into a berg run hedge fund that you can not touch until you retire or are fired. -Health Benefits are a joke and cost too much for my family -Be prepared to travel at your own expense -Lots of paper work as a Foreman (white hat)

Pros

Large company, access to larger prevailing-wage work

Cons

disorganized and chaotic. constant pushing for "production" with little effort to coordinate or plan (much less train) leading to lots of rework and overtime. Unskilled and new workers pushed to produce and left to work alone. I am very glad I didn't need to rely on them for my training, I worked with many "electricians" that worked with Berg from apprenticeship through to journeyman and most of them didn't know much about anything and couldn't tell you how anything worked. They'd hire on en masse and then layoff, very turn-and-burn. I always had overtime available fixing other worker's mistakes. Watched them lose money on a few large projects and after surviving many rounds of layoffs and travelling for them I left for the union. Best decision I could've made.
