Pros

Owner realizes she has lost her ability to effectively manage this company. She swoops in to make sure she is getting paid then focuses on personal matters and yelling at subordinates. She is quite old and has implement succession planning to hand over the company four years from now and counting. Problem? Designated future leader is entitled, inept, ineffective and inadequate. She cannot focus and has zero management skills. Right idea, wrong strategy. Simply put, there is virtually no AE that is not looking for another position. I would take issue with one previous poster (and give hope to those still there) you can move on and find other better jobs. While Behrman's reputation as a dysfunctional organization is well known, you will get professional credit for having worked there. One year at Behrman is one year at Behrman. You won't get dinged for having worked there but you will receive a knowing look of compassion when you interview from virtually everyone. This place has a serious reputation for being abusive to its employees in the PR community.

Cons

There are screaming matches, histrionics, and disgruntled employees both within the owner's office and throughout the company. She sets the tone. The owner has a penchant for firing people on the spot, for no reason. That's her idea of management, make everyone afraid -- let everyone know that even if you are doing your job and doing it extremely well, even if you are towing the line and keeping your head down, you could be next! Honestly, that is the management technique embraced by the owner. THAT is as sophisticated as it gets. Considering her age, it's apparent she will not change even as she loses business right and left. She cannot change and not even losing clients is a wakeup call for her. This place will not get better. If you have no other job offers and are desperate, even then, think twice about coming here. The work culture here is toxic from the top down.

Pros

I have worked at a few agencies and have a strong understanding of what to expect when it comes to agency life. My experience here was good - I built strong relationships, worked on exciting brands and was given opportunities that helped shape my career. Senior staff is always supportive and open to conversations surrounding client work and staff. Constant check ins helped us build a comradery and ensured that no one ever felt like they were alone with a heavy workload. We hosted really fun events and created dynamic opportunities for our clients. Loved being a part of all of the new business opportunities and learning how to apply our case studies to future work.

Cons

The long hours and heavy workload will always be a case study problem for PR agency life. Learning how to balance it is what keeps most of us in the industry. Adapting to new industry shifts and protocols can be challenging when there is a lot of work to do and only so many hours in the day

Pros

Built good relationships with clients.

Cons

The work environment is extremely toxic. I asked for help multiple times and it was met with annoyance or no answer. There is no opportunity to grow here and I was set up to fail from the beginning. The other members of the team belittled me and made it clear that I wasn’t a valued member of their team. The company seems to cycle through junior staff with no regard for their staff’s well being or professionalism.
