Pros

Beghou pays well and does not demand incredibly taxing work hours. It was easy to work from 9-5 most days with an hour+ lunch break. There is a relatively good work life balance. Additionally, if you're specifically looking learn a bit of data management, its a good place for that as well.

Cons

Calling the work they do consulting is a stretch. I was hired right out of college and thought of consulting as helping clients make strategic decisions through data analysis and research. Beghou does little to no work like this. Instead most of what they do is data stewardship. They contract for large pharma corporations, processing large data sets of sales and transactions. They work on data management, creating systems for data collection and storage and process it into reports that analysts at corporations can use to monitor sales. Your job at Beghou will give you the opportunity to learn interesting data programming skills, but you are rarely challenged to analyze the data like a real consultant. We had a joke among associates that we were the support team to real consultants. I found the work boring and unrewarding. At the end of the day, you are helping a corporation process data and create reports a little bit more efficiently. If that's what you're looking for, pick Beghou

Pros

The company has a very structured, hierarchical environment, which may appeal to people who prefer a traditional corporate setting. Work moves quickly and you’re expected to figure things out and take ownership of your responsibilities early on. You’re also exposed to fairly technical work right away. At the time I worked there, the role was mostly work-from-home, which was a nice perk.

Cons

This role may appeal to someone who prefers long stretches of solitary technical work. The role is often framed as consulting, but in practice, most engagements are long-term, multi-year relationships with the same clients focused on maintaining and managing data infrastructure. Internally, the work is proudly described as “data stewardship.” Day-to-day responsibilities are heavily technical and coding-focused. The vast majority of the work involves mundane data cleaning, data pipeline development, and maintaining datasets. Opportunities for business consulting work are essentially nonexistent. Expectations often resemble those of data science or software engineering roles, while compensation is a fraction of what those roles typically command. Training and onboarding were minimal, yet expectations for output were extremely high from the beginning.
