My experience with BeLoved Hospice was extremely disappointing and honestly shocking given the nature of the work they claim to stand for. I was abruptly laid off through an email with no conversation, no warning, and absolutely no respect or compassion shown. For a company centered around hospice and human care, the lack of basic professionalism was astounding. I never received negative feedback about my performance, was never told my position was in jeopardy, and the provider I supported consistently appeared satisfied with my work. To be blindsided without any prior discussion speaks volumes about the company’s leadership and internal culture. Employees deserve honesty, communication, and basic dignity — especially after showing dedication and loyalty to their role. Instead, I was treated as disposable. The constant turnover within this organization is not surprising and appears to reflect serious management and workplace issues. The level of favoritism and nepotism within the company is also hard to ignore and creates an environment that feels far from fair or professional. I would strongly encourage anyone considering employment here to pay close attention to how staff are treated behind the scenes, because the company culture did not reflect the compassion and values it publicly promotes.

They did offer more specialty services than other hospices I've worked for: music therapy, doulas, massage & acupuncture.

Communication from what is considered to be upper management came across often as abrupt/abrasive. They are trying to grow too quickly and don't have the infrastructure in place to do so. They have three service areas: Portland, Salem and Corvallis. They are having staff cover multiple service areas when they live in Portland or even Vancouver. This creates a long drive time to see patients and a delay in response times to urgent visits. Nurses are having to drive an hour and a half each way to some visits. Pay is not equitable: someone with far less experience as a nurse was making 104K/year when someone with nearly 30 years experience who was doing the same job was hired at 95K/year.
