Pros
I was able to gain experience in a design firm environment.
Cons
Didn’t learn anything and seemed to have no structure or thought put in to best utilize a intern. Early on at my time, I was up in a “competition” against a full time established graphic designer, creating a competition environment to decide what design should be used. As an intern that just started, going up against a fully established designer that had been working at the company for years, this was beyond intimidating. I also would go many of my days sitting around doing nothing and tasks like photography all day without seeing my supervisor. I understand the environment is high paced but if you can’t dedicate time to your hired interns maybe you should reconsider having them? The most disheartening instance at this internship was they would opening laugh and mock intern applicant’s work in the office, in front of me. When they realized I was there, they said “Oh, we didn’t do this to you I promise”. Highly unprofessional practices and individuals at this company. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Maybe it’s better and I truly hope so.
