Pros

Everything they say about being a bank that invests in good, is true and they are very careful not the greenwash. They do comply with responsible banking practices, meaning that people with home loans adjust well as cost of living goes up. The community grants program is really wonderful and the bank is climate active certified. They also own large conservation reserve and fund amazing things there. Lost of amazing values driven people are attracted to working there but enter in at low level jobs. WFH 2 days.

Cons

Progression and development are all talk. The highest tiers of management are so out of touch and majority are deeply racist - the head office is culturally unsafe as a person of colour. If you want to put in a complaint, head people and culture is a racist. Branch staff are also isolated by the business and as front line workers, they are often the whipping posts for the bank with minimum wage as compensation for the abuse. If you work hard, don't complain or ruffle feathers and are good at following policy, you will go far. If you raise issues of racism, gender pay gap, mental health and abuse from customers, complain about being over worked - expect to be forced out. They will not fire you, they will make you quit. All while promoting the most toxic people. Staff turnover in the customer service space is HIGH. Most people last a year at most.

Pros

A great example of doing finance differently

Cons

The company has great potential, but it is severely held back by poor upper and middle management. Team leadership often lacks key skills, is highly resistant to change, and feels threatened by anyone questioning the status quo. Career growth is rare or nonexistent, and employees who voice concerns face retaliation and gaslighting. Furthermore, HR fails to support staff and instead enables a toxic, unsafe work environment from the top down.
