Pros

The benefits are really hard to beat. The company really values your work/life balance and encourages its employees to socialize and get to know one another. Gym reimbursements, cheap and great healthcare, and tons of events that allow you to relax and have a beer with your coworker make this company hard to leave. The majority of people who work here are genuine, caring, and respectful. I would have left a while ago if it wasn't for my team and friends at the company.

Cons

Unfortunately I wish I could say only good things about this company, but the other cons in previous reviews are spot on. Friends of the CEO are never held accountable for their shortcomings, but rather shuffled around into roles they are not prepared for (ex. product manager was put in charge of B2B marketing last year...explain that to me?) and keep being promoted while the teams below them suffer for these poor decisions. People are constantly promoted or hired into manager positions who are not ready for it and make working at BancVue a headache. The disorganization and inexperience of these people make those below them gradually hate their job and push them out. Constant shifts in the company's goals due to lack of sales and scrambling for money cause teams to drop what they're doing and switch priorities multiple times throughout the year. We can afford to fly our CMO back and forth from GA each week and pay for all of his expenses, yet our budgets get cut because of sales and poor decisions made by upper management. Hard workers have been fired because of their "position being eliminated," when we're really just scrambling for costs and I wouldn't be surprised if we did have another round of layoffs. If you didn't already guess, I'm on my way out the door - sick of going in circles and seeing the favoritism of the company continue to grow.

Pros

The mission is real and people for the most part are proud to support the little banks and credit unions that do a lot more for their communities than the mega banks do. The culture is very strong, but I don't call it "good". "Good" is subjective and will be different for each person. It's perfectly reasonable for a great person to find our culture to be a poor fit for them, but that's always the risk of having a STRONG culture. It means you aren't trying to be all things to all people. It takes a special kind of person, more of a self starter, to thrive here. And that's not for everyone, but it works for me and the vast majority of my coworkers. Benefits are solid. Work Life balance is good for most positions (but there are some that have unequal share of the load - and that's an area to improve). People are genuinely respected. While there are always cases where any company will miss the mark, the management team is overall very concerned about respecting the dignity of every employee.

Cons

The company's aspirations are BIG and finding resources to address the opportunities is sometimes hard. Though, I think we've gotten better about prioritizing things so this is at least a smaller (though not nonexistent) issue. As I mentioned above, there are pockets of teams w/ Work/Life Balance problems.

Thank you for your perspective. I like your comments regarding culture and how whether or not someone will like it depends on fit. Thanks for also providing some good constructive feedback. We will work hard to address those.
