Pros

I had heard some bad things about BYG so I was really apprehensive to take the job but it's been the best decision I've made. I've had a few jobs before this, in e-learning and away from it and it's one of the nicest places I have worked. The culture of the place is great. Everyone works really hard but without making you feel overly stressed about deadlines etc. I've never been asked to work overtime, but if we're approaching a deadline and it would help ease the pressure, I have because you work with a good team and you know it will help. This has happened maybe 3 times in over a year. We're also still doing flexible working, so just a couple of days in the office, which gives you a really nice balance.

Cons

There aren't any cons about the actual work environment etc but a bit more holiday would be great.

Pros

Flex start time is ok.

Cons

After minimal training on their archaic and broken systems, I knew it wasn’t going to work. Nightmare. I was messaged on Slack by one of the owners to tell me every mistake if made in a scolding manner. CAPS, !! And all. I even got an “ARGHH!” Never have I ever. Don’t accept bad treatment. You work with cameras on you and they eavesdrop. I have photos to prove all.

Pros

The salary may seem competitive at first glance, but there's usually a catch — especially in sales/admin/marketing roles, where the MD is heavily involved. The only genuinely good thing about this place is the team. The staff are talented, kind, and supportive — despite the culture they’re stuck in by leadership.

Cons

The working environment at this company is dictated entirely by the managing director’s behaviour — and it’s overwhelmingly negative. The MD is involved in every detail of the business and manages through fear, not leadership. Micromanagement is constant, and feedback is often delivered through shouting, public humiliation, and outright disrespect. The culture is so demoralising. It's difficult to raise concerns or improve things because the issues stem from the very top. Many of the positive reviews here appear to be faked or encouraged by the admin team, which doesn’t reflect the day-to-day reality. If you're considering working here, my honest advice is: don’t. Its really not worth it!!
