Pros

Some European style benefits such as 3 weeks vacation to start, decent amount of sick, personal & floating holidays. Free health insurance for me if I choose the high deductible. We opted for family & high deductible and get $1000/year in a health savings account (rolls over). So long as you stay in plan it is fine. Only costs me $70/month, not bad compared to the $400/month I was paying at my last job. My desk is at one of the contracted locations and I do not have any other BT peers working with me full time. So long as the client location is happy, BT is happy and all is well. You do have anyone breathing down your neck. Salaried position but you can get OT when client needs you after hours. Not necessarily challenging but as mentioned thankful to God I have steady work.

Cons

Pay is below regional average. I suppose one can't complain in 2009/2010 since almost any job is a good thing. BT is a huge company and the folks out in the hinterlands really don't know what's going on beyond what our immediate supervisors tell us. Our division was created by purchasing a company outright so it may take a while for us to become a legitimate part of the family. It took me 6 months to get a BT.com email. The outsourced HR is OK until you have a problem then it is like talking to a government agency. No cost of living or merit increases in 2009 and I'm guessing the same for 2010. They purged 10,000 or so people worldwide.

Pros

Benefits are better than most US companies. You get twice or triple the numbers of days off per year.

Cons

Focus is more on originating company location for group events and emails. Due to time zone differences, it can be difficult to work with others without adjusting your schedule. It is difficult to get promoted outside originating country. Roles are few and far between in the US.
