Pros
BT Group is a genuinely brilliant place to grow if you care about working with smart, thoughtful people. During my time there I had the chance to collaborate with incredibly intelligent colleagues across engineering, product, and design — people who really care about solving complex problems. There’s also a strong culture of learning: internal events, knowledge-sharing sessions, and open conversations across teams make it a stimulating environment. I always felt included and supported by the wider community.
Cons
Like many large organisations, BT isn’t perfect. Mid/ senior level management can be hit-or-miss, and occasionally decisions are made that don’t reflect the realities on the ground. Restructures can feel random, and sometimes excellent people end up reporting to managers who aren’t qualified to lead them. When organisational shifts happen, accountability can get lost in the hierarchy — which is frustrating when you care about outcomes.
