Pros

You have the ability and freedom to expand your experience and programs as long as its feasible and is beneficial to the community. Great place to work except for the cons.

Cons

Lack of urgency with departmental communication and teamwork. Fingers get pointed too often.

Pros

The staff at the zoo and BREC as a whole are all wonderful. The organization does a great job with the onboarding process, both in terms of knowing what you'll be doing in your position and knowing about the organization. The volunteers for the education department are also all great at what they do.

Cons

The pay was not competitive. For a full-time zoo educator, it was less than $15 an hour. There were also expectations of performing many different duties, including, but not limited to, animal care (cleaning, diet preparation, and enrichment), scheduling programs and organizing their payment, and leading programs at the zoo and off-grounds.
