Pros

- All teams have exposure to a portfolio of huge global brands. - In-person and remote culture is one of a kind. - Transparent about (positive) business decisions and the business journey. - Brilliant successful agency, growing at speed. Guaranteed to continue on its trajectory. - Fantastic employer brand. -Their ‘young talent scheme’ is well-researched and executed. - Intelligent, hungry, motivated teams. - Autonomy and opportunity at all levels. - Broad range of societies and socials. - Engaging internal debates and discussions - Inclusivity, Neurodiversity, Social classes (even if its not acted on)

Cons

- Most of leadership, department heads and senior team members have been with the business for a long time which can blinker new opinions or feedback. - Agency has transitioned / is transitioning from Social into Advertising - so the teams lack real ad agency experience. Often affecting poor client experience, outweighing planning VS execution and delivery, misinformed project timings, and creative not meeting standards. - Change happens fast here - when it comes to workflow, resources, project priorities. Whereas department changes are slow and drawn out, creating confusion and actually causing change anxiety. -Because leadership responsibilities are given to anyone in mid/senior positions, individuals' experiences can be hugely skewed depending on the maturity and experience their leader/line manager has. - Operations killing creativity. -- Standards are allowed to slip due to demands on resource. -- Operations dictate decisions that impact creative work. -- Agency seems trained to think quantity over quality. -- Project wash-ups are delayed, not respected or learnings fall on deaf ears. -- Lack of ‘free time’ for delivery teams in all departments to do their best work. (Key quote from Austin Kleon “Creative people need time to just sit around and do nothing.”) - Multiple flexible working policies but they don’t feel accessible with the demands of the day job - often making burn-out more likely, as team members don’t feel they can actually take advantage of the initiatives. - More transparency and action are needed to ensure teams are learning from mistakes. By just celebrating positive outcomes it starts to feel like toxic positivity. - Extraverted team members do well and are celebrated. While humble and introverted characters struggle with getting their time to shine. - Lack of BAME representation in senior positions.

Thanks for taking the time to leave this thoughtful review. It's a good read, with lots of strong observations and feedback. Appreciate your view on the pros - our client list and our in-person + hybrid culture are two things we're especially proud of. Really hear your constructive points too. Most notably ensuring operations doesn't hinder creativity (getting this balance right as we grow is key - and hard!), rethinking scale of people leadership (perhaps part of the solution lies in better training and systems to support consistency, which is something we're actively working on right now) and valuing perspectives outside the 'Born bubble' (there are pros to long term retention of leadership in terms of stability but we MUST listen and trust new thinking for us to improve). Completely agree that we need: more diversity in senior roles, to develop more comfort in unpacking what's not worked so we're not veering into realms of toxic positivity, and that good culture means nothing without great work (in our business can you actually have a good culture without it?). Heed your advice, thank you. Please do feel free to discuss it with us in person if you have more thoughts to share.

Pros

Talented team mates, ambitious company goals, big clients, good benefits, kind and inclusive culture, good feedback culture and people management. I had a great time working with the teams I was in and met loads of great people. Potential for amazing ideas and executions

Cons

Bad processes are holding the creative ideas back and wasting time and money, There is a lot of talk about changing structures but no real evidence of the change. There are redundancies in resourcing but that is the weakest in terms of the work being split up efficiently and executed. Briefing is unclear and not set up for collaboration and then people want to shift the blame. Creatives are super talented but the production process doesn’t allow for the work to be at the level they want it to be. When a client has to much money they dictate unreasonable asks and there isn’t enough push back. The work suffers and people get burnt out. Personally I didn’t get a lot of satisfaction from the work

Hi - we really appreciate you sharing such thoughtful feedback. You make some good and fair points around tension between process and output. It's a challenge most agencies grapple with, especially as they scale too 200 . As you've mentioned its something we've been candid about really focussing on in the second half of this year and this work is definitely starting to pay off. Thanks again for your review - especially for all your positive words on our ambition, people and culture. We agree on that too!
