Pros

It is a good working experience if you enjoy working with foreign trade etc. There are a lot of departments and everyone should have a chance to work within or be familiar with them. It doesn't give employees a realistic perspective of what it is like to work in foreign trades and other things bank of new york is known for. They have so many worldwide locations so the chances of one ending up in a different city are rare to none, it is disappointing, they should have more cross training amongst departments and ability to go to another office if one desires

Cons

Too little chance of moving up the ladder and getting promoted fast. The training given is the absolute worse method. You have to sit deskside to someone who has been here for six months or more, its kind of annoying if that person is in a senior position because they have that ego booster already and they have been here for too long so its hard to get adjusted to that. Vacation time is only 2 weeks no matter what tenant position you hold, three weeks after 12 months should be given as most companies do anyways. MORE VACATION TIME!

Pros

Job only as good as immediate manager. Salary is Ok ish Benefit options are ok not great.

Cons

1) Retaliation is a way of life at this company going back to 2018 and becoming worse since 2) Mid level managers are very efficient at passively insulting the Teams they are responsible for. 3) It is nearly impossible to advance in the company. 4) When you try to post to another department - your Mid level manager will do the best to stop you from advancing. Some have close friends in HR that will even have you submit a new application in an attempt to accuse the other department of recruiting you. I have experienced this. 5) The only way to increase pay and experience is by leaving the company. 6) It use to be a culture of lets help others when there is a problem, now it is lets find who to blame for upper mangers rushing a project before all risks are identified. 7) If you are taking a new Job - professionally push for higher Salary once you are in raises will be very small.
