Pros

Great perks, including company shares and Short-Term Incentives (STI).

Cons

Managers consistently bully employees, and higher management fails to take appropriate action. I worked at the Kalgoorlie site as a permanent employee. Despite being contracted for Perth and flying to the site every week, I was never paid the uplift allowance. The accommodations were poor, often shared with others, and there was no proper canteen or suitable food provided for FIFO employees. The overall work environment was terrible, and I would never recommend BHP to anyone. Management frequently bullies employees and then refers them to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). If employees escalate their concerns to EthicsPoint, the investigations often result in findings of “not substantial,” and the employees are once again referred to EAP.

Pros

Some good co-workers and good challenges

Cons

Leadership in the Tucson office is highly political and unprofessional. Feedback is not given directly. Local leadership is more interested in Linkedin posting and image, rather than anything of substance.
